In Australia, energy efficiency has been ignored to a large extent, largely as a result of relatively low energy costs. In the transition to a national emissions trading scheme, the Smart Energy Savings Program will require Queensland's medium-to-large energy users to complete energy conservation audits and develop energy management plans detailing actions that reduce energy use.
