General criteria for all categories

  1. What have you or your organisation done to demonstrate leadership and innovation in environmental best practice/and or resource efficiency?
  2. Please give an example of your commitment to make sustainability a priority for business development at the organisational, product and market level.
  3. How do you demonstrate your understanding of the value chain opportunities in business sustainability?

Industrial Eco-efficiency Award

Foster's Group

Awarded to a business for outstanding performance in eco-efficiency.

Key criteria

  1. What improvements have you made in eco-efficiency?
  2. How did you know when your project had achieved environmental best practice and integration with business strategy?

Corporate Sustainability Awards

Westpac

Awarded to an organisation for outstanding performance in making corporate sustainability the cornerstone of its business development strategy.

Key criteria

  1. How have you shown leadership and innovation in developing and implementing management practices that lessen the ecological impact of a business and delivered outcomes consistent with corporate responsibility?
  2. What financial improvements of the business resulted in sustainable management practices?
  3. Can you show evidence of market profile and development as a result of the corporate sustainability strategy?

Innovation in Sustainable Technologies Award

Hatch

Awarded to an organisation or individual for the development of technology (systems, equipment and/or infrastructure) that delivers resource conservation and/or enable sustainability innovation in a business.

Key criteria

  1. What environmental benefits, in the form of water or energy savings, waste reduction, or reduced environmental impact has resulted in a new technology or technological process improvement?
  2. What is the potential for the new technology or process improvement to be adapted by other business?

Sustainability Partnership Award

Conics

Awarded to an individual or business for a sustainability outcome achieved in partnership with either a government (any level) and/or community organisation (non-government organisation).

Key criteria

  1. Can you demonstrate what value you have given to a business working in partnership with government and community stakeholders to achieve stakeholder benefit through sustainability?
  2. What are the key community sustainability outcomes of the partnership?

Sustainability in the Built Environment Award

Ergon Energy

Awarded to an innovative organisation showcasing the sustainability business opportunity in urban development.

Key criteria

  1. What environmental benefits and function has your project created in an urban development or built environment?
  2. What leadership and innovation in developing and promoting built design and development solutions that improve eco-efficiency and advance sustainable living have you shown?
  3. How has your project integrated the natural amenity with the built form in a way that enhances the quality of urban life?

Rural Sustainability Award

Coles / Australian Country Choice

Awarded to a primary producer for sustainable primary production and stewardship of the natural capital underpinning the business.

Key criteria

  1. What environmental benefits and enhanced farm functionality and sustainability in an agribusiness or rural enterprise has your project resulted in?
  2. Please explain your level of commitment to leadership and innovation in the advancement and development of sustainable agribusiness.
  3. In what ways has your project demonstrated land and waterway stewardship for environmental sustainability?

Resource Industries Sustainability Award

Queensland Resource Council

Awarded for outstanding innovation in the mining industry that results in reduced environmental impact in that sector.

Key criteria

  1. What uptake of sustainable development principles and practices as business strategy at both a corporate and project level has your project achieved?
  2. How have you demonstrated leadership in environmental practices and performance based on continual improvement and excellence?
  3. How has your project committed to progressive rehabilitation and long-term sustainability?

ClimateSmart Leadership Award

Bendigo Bank

Awarded to a business or individual for leadership and innovation in greenhouse gas emissions abatement and/or climate change adaptation as part of the business strategy.

Key criteria

  1. How has your project created a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the business value chain?
  2. How have you shown innovation and leadership in applying business sustainability principles and practices as a business strategy for addressing climate change?
  3. How have you participated in increasing awareness about climate change in the community and promoting efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by all stakeholders of your project?
