How do I enter?
Calls for nominations will be advertised in 2008.
Each entry should comprise three parts. These are:
- A completed entry form;
- A project submission responding to the generic and category-specific selection criteria; and
- Any supporting documentation.
All sections must be completed.
The project submission must be a maximum of 1,500 words and should include a short summary of the project including the description, background and achievements (150 words) as well as statements addressing the generic and category-specific criteria (200-250 words each). Each response to the generic and category-specific criteria should be clearly titled. Please view the selection criteria .
Supporting documentation can include statistics, photographs, media coverage, letters of endorsement etc. Supporting documentation should be limited to relevant information only. It is strongly suggested that only the relevant sections of large publications are copied and submitted, not the full publication itself.
Can I enter the same project in more than one award category?
Yes. For example, a project entered in the Industrial Eco-efficiency Award may also be deemed by the submitter to be a contender for the ClimateSmart Leadership Award.
A separate entry form and project submission needs to be completed for each Award category in which a project is entered.
I entered my project in last year's Awards. Can I re-enter it this year?
Yes, so long as the activity was ongoing or undertaken in 2007.
How do I present my entry?
The written component of your entry must address the selection criteria for the category in which you are entering. Some entrants choose to outsource the preparation of their written submission to a public relations or marketing firm, while others prefer to prepare their Award's submission in-house.
While professional presentation may be helpful in creating a good first impression and appreciation for the project, it is written content that concisely addresses the selection criteria that is most important.
What are the selection criteria?
The selection criteria are available in the information brochure, or on the website . You will be expected to provide statements addressing generic and category-specific criteria (200-250 words each). If you are submitting your project in more than one Award category, you will be expected to address the criteria for each Award with relevant responses.
Who judges the Awards and what is the procedure?
The department will examine each submission and create a shortlist of "highly recommended" candidates. The judging panel, which consists of the department senior management and independent industry representatives, will then assess each of the highly recommended submissions to determine finalists and winners.
To finalise their decision, judges may wish to conduct a site inspection at a time and date to be arranged with the entrant. The decision to undertake, or not to undertake, a site inspection is for information purposes only and in no way indicates preference or otherwise for a submission.
The decision of the judging panel is final and will not be subject to challenge by any entrant.
Does my project need to be completed?
Yes, all projects need to be completed by 31 December 2007. If your project is not completed by this time, you are encouraged to submit an application in following years when your project is completed. However, you can nominate for an Award if your nomination is based on the built-in sustainability features and practices used during the construction of the project.
