What is ecoBiz?
ecoBiz is the Department of Environment and Resource Management’s partnership program with Queensland business and industry.
The ecoBiz program is a free self help program that uses a simple six step methodology for identifying and measuring water, energy and material resource saving opportunities to assist Queensland companies to cut costs and increase profit through eco-efficiency.
Participants are encouraged to complete a Baseline, Site Survey, Action Plan and Re-assessment within twelve months of joining.
The ecoBiz toolbox is tailored for industrial/manufacturing businesses. The toolbox provides spreadsheets to measure business resource consumption and waste outputs. These spreadsheets automatically generate greenhouse gas emissions, project payback, annualised resource inputs, waste and financial costs. Click here for more information on the ecoBiz toolbox.
A specialised Small Business Edition (SBE) targeted at small service businesses, such as offices, shops and cafes is also available. It can be applied to a large range of other commercial service businesses but is not suitable for industrial/manufacturing businesses. Click here for more information on the SBE.
ecoBiz participants adopting eco-efficient practices enable their business to:
- reduce consumption of resources;
- reduce impact on the environment;
- enhance product quality and productivity; and
- improve financial performance.
Who can join ecoBiz?
Any Queensland based company that is interested in improving their bottom line and reducing their environmental footprint may apply to join ecoBiz. ecoBiz participants must comply with all environmental legislation. Click here to apply now (PDF, 246K)*.
