The coastal zone

The coastal zone is the focal point for human-environment interactions in Queensland. While it contains many sensitive ecosystems, it is home to most of the state's population and the site of many intensive economic activities. Queensland's coastal waters are the ultimate sink for many stormwater, waste and nutrient discharges.
