Level 2 Mining Project Guidance Package
Overview
The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) has prepared comprehensive guidance for level 2 mining projects to assist operators in the small scale mining sector to meet their obligation to comply with the Environmental Protection Act 1994.
DERM recognises the importance that small scale mining plays in contributing to regional and remote communities across the state.
The guidance materials cover the regulatory requirements for the environmental management of small scale mining projects throughout the life of the project. They describe the process for obtaining, transferring or amending an environmental authority, and rehabilitating and surrendering mining tenements at the end of the life of a mine.
