Binary Remediation Update - 8 October 2007

Monday 8 October to Friday 12 October 2007
To keep local residents, businesses, media and other interested parties fully informed of the remediation of the Narangba Industrial Estate, the department is publishing a weekly update.
The current soil remediation activities are part of the department's ongoing cleanup and remediation works on State and local government-owned land adjacent to the Binary factory site.
A summary of remediation works and site conditions between Monday 8 October 2007 and Friday 12 October 2007 is provided below:
- The remediation site received 26 mm of rainfall this week;
- Remediation of Pond 1 continued this week;
- Thirty one trucks with contaminated soil from Ponds 1 & 2 were taken to the Ti Tree waste disposal facility for bioremediation;
- Discharges of treated water from the department's Treatment Dam to the Caboolture Shire Council sewer remain on hold pending analysis results of water samples from the dam. The department is working closely with Cabwater to resolve the issue.
The department has been supervising all works conducted on the site.
