Binary remediation update - 2 April 2007

Weekly update

Monday 2 April to Saturday 7 April 2007

  • The department secured funding for the next phase of soil removal and remediation works. This includes the remediation of the two remaining containment ponds, which is scheduled to commence next week.

  • The department continues to treat contaminated stormwater collected on the site using the specially constructed treatment pond on the project site. The treated water is being discharged to the Caboolture Shire Council sewer under a trade waste agreement with CabWater at a rate of 50,000 litres a day. This will continue for a number of weeks until the current batch is disposed of.

  • Zelam continues to remove water from the site in preparation for the next round of soil removal works.

Anyone with concerns about odour, soil or water contamination from the Narangba Industrial Estate please call the department hotline on 1300 130 372.
