Grosvenor Coal Project

The proponent for the Grosvenor Coal Project is Anglo Coal (Grosvenor) Pty Ltd. The proponent made application on 2 March 2010 for an environmental authority (mining lease). The application was determined to require an EIS on 17 March 2010.

The status of the process for the assessment of the Grosvenor Project is as follows:

The EIS assessment report was issued to the proponent on 22 September 2011 and the EIS process under Chapter 3, Part 1 of the EP Act has been completed.

The project was determined to be a controlled action under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The controlling provisions related to listed threatened species and communities. The EIS assessment report contains an assessment of the significance of impacts of the action on the controlling provisions. A copy of the EIS assessment report has been given to the Commonwealth Environment Minister, who will decide whether to approve or refuse the controlled action under Part 9 of the EPBC Act.
