Legally secured offsets register

The legally secured offsets register is a publically available interactive database, which records offsets that have been approved under the:

The offsets register reflects a number of the legally secured offsets, which have been approved by the Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) prior to October 2011. The register will be updated periodically to reflect all legally secured offsets, which have been approved by DERM.

The register will also be updated as new offset areas are legally secured, or as offset payments are accepted under the Biodiversity Offsets Policy.

The register (Excel, 161K)‡ can be accessed on DERM’s website.

Developers should contact their nearest DERM business centre regarding any legally secured offset areas and their location across the state, to ensure they are aware of existing offset sites that may not yet be listed on the register.

Note: Expanding the register to include local government and other government offsets is currently being explored, with a view to it being available later in 2012.
