Gladstone Harbour Protection and Enhancement Strategy
Growing local concern over the environmental impacts of increasing industrialisation and urbanisation of the Gladstone region has led industry, government and community stakeholders in the region to develop the Gladstone Harbour Protection and Enhancement Strategy.
Mackay Coast Study Report
The Mackay Coast Study examines factors affecting coastal processes, including sand movement, erosion and accretion along Mackay's beaches between Baker's Creek and Shoal Point. The report presents an overall view of regional coastal processes, and detailed descriptions of beaches in the study area, with recommendations for managing them.
Moreton Bay Sand Extraction Study
To provide a sound basis for considering future sand extraction proposals in northern Moreton Bay, the State Government initiated the Moreton Bay Sand Extraction Study. This study examined the environmental, social and economic impacts of increasing sand extraction from the Bay and explored possible alternative sources of fine sand.
Tweed River Entrance Sand Bypassing Project
The Tweed River Entrance Sand Bypassing Project, undertaken jointly by the Queensland and New South Wales state governments in conjunction with the Gold Coast City Council and Tweed Shire Council aims to establish and maintain a navigable entrance to the Tweed River and to enhance and maintain the amenity of the southern Gold Coast beaches.
