Mackay Coast Study Report
The Mackay Coast Study examines factors affecting coastal processes, including sand movement, erosion and accretion, along Mackay's beaches between Baker's Creek and Shoal Point.
Both natural and human induced factors affect coastal processes in the study area including the effects of the extreme tidal range, the frequency of intense tropical storms, Mackay Harbour's walls and extraction of sand resources from the beach.
An overall view of regional coastal processes in presented, as well as detailed descriptions of individual beaches in the study area. Recommendations on management options for specific issues and individual beaches have been developed, using the available information.
