Current environmental approvals

Mining activities require an environmental authority (under the Environmental Protection Act 1994) to be issued before the activity can be carried out.

The environmental authority imposes conditions aimed at ensuring that potential environmental harm is minimised or mitigated. 

The public have an opportunity to provide feedback on environmental authority applications and this information is taken into consideration by DERM during the assessment process.

Public Notification

An environmental authority is required to be issued before the mining or petroleum and gas activities can be carried out.

The following provides access to the current applications for which environmental authority applications  have been made and which are currently undergoing public notification or have recently completed public notification.

Public Register

DERM has made available a public register of Environmental authorities which have recently been approved.
