Adaptive management

Queensland has introduced a process which ensures environmental licences can be changed to take into account new research, monitoring or modelling which suggests the potential for unintended or unexpected impacts on the environment.

This process, called the adaptive management framework, will apply to both current and future coal seam gas projects and will ensure the government is able to respond to what happens on-the-ground and protect the environment even in unforseen circumstances.

This is in addition to the rigorous assessments that are undertaken before CSG projects are approved under Queensland environmental law.
