Environment Protection and Heritage Council
http://www.ephc.gov.au/
The Environment Protection and Heritage Council (EPHC) was formed following changes to natural resource and environment related Ministerial Councils agreed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) in June 2001.
EPHC was created by amalgamating the National Environment Protection Council (NEPC), the environment protection components of the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC) and Heritage Ministers' Meetings.
NEPC sets national environmental goals and standards for Australia through National Environment Protection Measures (NEPMs). Three NEPMs that provide benefits for air quality are the:
  • Ambient Air Quality NEPM;
  • Air Toxics (draft);
  • Diesel Vehicle Emissions NEPM; and
  • National Pollutant Inventory NEPM.
An ambient air toxics NEPM is under development and a draft variation to the ambient air quality NEPM for a PM2.5 standard has been released for comment.
National Pollutant Inventory database
http://www.npi.gov.au/

The National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) is an internet database designed to provide the community, industry and government with information on the types and amounts of certain substances being emitted to the environment. In particular, you can view the amount of air emissions in your local area from area-based and local industry sources.
