For students
Our environment and natural resources include the wildlife, land, water, and vegetation. They need to be managed carefully to make sure they are still available for people in the future. We call this ‘sustainable’ use of our natural resources.
Through learning about the sustainable management of our natural and environmental resources, you can:
- understand important issues which are being discussed in your community such as water conservation, soil erosion and land clearing;
- use what you learn to help you form opinions about how Queensland is managing its environment and natural resources and to make decisions about how you, your family and your school use these resources;
- help find innovative solutions to meet today's resource management challenges such as the increasing demand on water supply and competing land-use needs;
- choose to take up a career in environment and natural resource management in the future as a scientist, project, ranger, compliance, planning or policy officer.
