Student Village is an apartment complex run for students of the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba. The project (PDF, 177K)* involved installing flow restrictors on water faucets and instigating tenant education (i.e. signage) that saved on their water bill. The benefits of energy-efficient lighting and the education program also resulted in energy savings.
Annual Savings:
- Energy 7% (8 Queensland homes or 442,966 MJ)
- Greenhouse Gas 6% (16 cars or 65 t CO2-e)
- Potable water 30% (5 Olympic swimming pools or 12,034 kL)
- Efficiency savings $72,769
