The Sofitel Reef Hotel Casino located in Cairns, is a five star hotel and casino. With an ecoBiz rebate they became the first Queensland hotel to install carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring and variable speed drives in their car park. The CO monitor varies the fan speed to match the CO load from car engines, thereby saving energy.
The hotel has installed multiple water meters and new dishwashers. A staff education and training campaign, along with new energy efficient equipment has led to further reductions in resource usage.
