Norman Disney and Young is a global engineering consultancy. The company successfully converted their 1980’s Brisbane office into a NABERS 5 star energy and 4.5 star water building. This was accomplished by removing internal walls to encourage natural light and ventilation, while also upgrading their air-conditioner, installing insulation and solar film on windows. They also installed an efficient lighting system, which includes motion detectors, dimming functions and skylights. They reduced their water use by installing dual flush units, waterless urinals and flow restrictors on faucets. Finally, they initiated a new recycling program, which included reusing fittings and workstations from the old office and designating recycling stations for paper and ink toners.
