ecoBiz Partner Biography
Hyatt Regency Coolum's David Craven and Brett Braithwaite receiving their ecoBiz Partner certificate from Councillor Bob Abbot, Mayor of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council
The Hyatt Regency Coolum, a five star resort, considerably improved recycling processes around their resort to reduce waste to landfill. Worm farms were established to compost organic waste, and they began recycling shrink wrap and batteries. To reduce energy consumption, they installed card activated systems for electricity in hotel rooms, and replaced chillers, heat pumps and lights with energy efficient models. They also reduced their water usage by installing water efficient showerheads and faucets throughout the resort, and encouraging water conservation through signage.
