Compressed aluminium blocks from Ferra's swarf briquetting machine
Ferra's coolant recycling pump
Ferra Engineering supplies hi-tech light-metal components to the automotive and aerospace industries, from their facility in Tingalpa. Ferra identifed two projects capable of increasing their production efficiency from 55 to 90%. The first project was the installation of a swarf briquetting machine which compresses aluminium shavings into 500g blocks that are re-used on-site or sold on. Now 80-95% of all waste metals go through this process. The company also began recovering expensive coolant for re-use in machinery.
