Cape Hillsborough Nature Resort is an accommodation park located north of Mackay. To reduce energy use, they installed energy efficient heat pumps for the hot water system and motion sensor lighting where practical. To reduce waste to landfill, they began sorting waste streams and taking recyclables to the local collection station. For water, they began recycling water from the treatment plant for use in the gardens. Finally, they undertook a signage campaign to encourage guests to be more environmentally conscious across water, energy and waste.
