The ecoBiz process will help you:
- Measure your business footprint.
- Identify opportunities for improvement.
- Schedule/prioritise identified opportunities in an action plan.
- Re-measure and compare.

- 1. Join now
-
- The first step in starting your sustainability journey is to choose your ecoBiz Business Champion and join ecoBiz by completing an application form (PDF, 260K).
- For an electronic version of the form please email ecobiz@derm.qld.gov.au.
- Once your application is received an ecoBiz Project Officer will contact you to guide you through the program.
- 2. Measure waste, energy and water

If you aren’t measuring, you aren’t managing.
- Measure your business activities through utility usage to help establish a benchmark for improvements.
- Record this information in your Baseline spreadsheet (Excel, 174K).
- 3. Review waste, energy and water

Is your business being wasteful?
- Review your materials, waste, energy, and water to help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Record this information in your Site Survey spreadsheet (Excel, 209K).
- Read our Useful information to help you recognise what opportunities to look out for.
- 4. Complete an Action Plan

- Develop an Action Plan from the opportunities identified during the Site Survey. Prioritise no cost, low cost and invest to save projects.
- Record these in your Action Plan spreadsheet (Excel, 150K).
- Read our Useful information to get you started on developing efficiency project ideas.
- For more efficiency improvement ideas read the success stories of our Partners.
- Develop an Action Plan from the opportunities identified during the Site Survey. Prioritise no cost, low cost and invest to save projects.
- 5. Put your plan into action

Start getting processes in place to implement your Action Plan throughout your business.
- Prioritise your projects
- Track your progress, timeline and budget
- Allocate resources for staff
- Update your Action Plan as the situations change
- 6. Report on your achievements

Re-measure to report on your achievements.
- Update your utility usage figures to report on the savings achieved through implementing your Action Plan.
- Record these figures in your Re-assessment spreadsheet (Excel, 174K).
- Partnership

Get recognised for your achievements.
- To become an ecoBiz Partner you must demonstrate environmental improvements of at least a 10% reduction in at least one of greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water or waste.
- To maintain Partnership status ecoBiz Partners must continue to submit action plans and Re-assessments on an ongoing basis. Read more
