Educational purposes

General information

In Queensland, an educational purposes permit issued under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 may be required to take, use or keep protected wildlife for educational purposes.

Applicants will need to demonstrate that the activity is primarily educational and that the wildlife taken, kept or used under the permit will not be used to gain a financial benefit.

Educational purposes permits are only available to secondary or tertiary educational institutions or to individuals who have a qualification relevant to the activity for which the permit is sought and can demonstrate a sound knowledge of husbandry of the animal.
