Recreational fishing is only allowed in designated areas within the protected area estate.

Permits and approvals
A person is allowed to recreationally fish:
- in the area of national park, national park (Aboriginal land) or national park (Torres Strait Islander land) specified in Schedule 6 of the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas Management) Regulation 2006; or
- in a conservation park; or
- in a resources reserve.
