Scientific purpose permits

General information

Queensland's native wildlife is protected by the Nature Conservation Act 1992 and Regulations to ensure the conservation of nature. People are required by law to hold permits, licences or authorities to take, keep or use many native plants and animals. Some native plant and animal species may be taken without a permit, licence or authority. A licensing system helps protect our native wildlife from human exploitation. These controls ensure wild populations of plants and animals are protected.
