Environment and Resource Management

Technical Guidelines

The Technical Guidelines for the Environmental Management of Exploration and Mining in Queensland were prepared for the former Department of Minerals and Energy and published in 1995.

Please note, the guidelines contain references to some statutory tools and responsible authority contacts that are now out of date. However, the technical information is still applicable, and the guidelines are referred to in the various Codes of Environmental Compliance that contain conditions applicable to environmental authorities for standard exploration, mineral development, mining claim and mining lease projects.

As the new administering authority for the environmental management of mining in Queensland, the department intends to commence a revision of the technical guidelines in the near future.

Any suggestions for the review can be provided to the Director, Systems and Support Branch, Environmental Operations Division, Environmental Protection Agency, PO Box 15155, City East, Queensland, 4002.

Some of the information in the documents below, such as contact telephone numbers and addresses, are out of date. Current contact details for the department can be found in the information sheet Contact details for licensing under the Environmental Protection Act 1994.
