Cultural heritage
Queensland's cultural heritage legislation focuses on protecting aspects of our past that we want to keep, appreciate and enjoy today and to pass on to future generations.
The conservation of Queensland's historical cultural heritage is protected by the Queensland Heritage Act 1992. (PDF)* The Act establishes the Queensland Heritage Register, and provides for the identification and conservation of Queensland's historical cultural heritage. This Register is maintained by the Queensland Heritage Council, which also determines all development matters relating to registered places.
