Suitability statement
After considering a site investigation or validation report, the department decides whether the land is contaminated. A suitability statement is a brief report issued by the department about the site investigation and the uses for which the land is suitable.
The department issues suitability statements when:
- land is removed from the Environmental Management Register (EMR), following site investigation and, where necessary, remediation:
- land is removed from the Contaminated Land Register (CLR), following site remediation and validation; or
- a site management plan for land recorded on the EMR is approved.
The department issues the suitability statement to the landowner and the applicant (if this is a person other than the owner), and the local authority.
