Assessment of development on coastal land
The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) is responsible for assessing specified types of development proposed within the coastal management district. When assessing development in tidal waters or on coastal land within coastal management districts, the following must be considered:
- the Queensland Coastal Plan
- regional plans
- relevant operational policies.
The guideline Assessable development under the Coastal Act has been prepared to help local government assessment managers and DERM assessment officers address these policies when assessing development applications. It also gives applicants the State's interpretation of these plans and policies and how to achieve the coastal management outcomes desired.
