The erosion prone area is the width of the coast that is considered to be vulnerable to coastal erosion and tidal inundation over a 50-year planning period. Where no regional coastal management plan has been prepared, an area within a designated Erosion Prone Area is taken to be a coastal management district under Section 168 of the Coastal Act.
