Cultural heritage database and register search request
Records of significant sites are kept in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage database and register (PDF, 63K)*, which are administered by DERM.
It is necessary to make a formal request, by completing a search request form to access information from these sources. The search request form can be completed and submitted electronically. Alternatively, the form can be printed out and submitted by fax or post.
General access to the database, register and reports catalogue
At times it may be necessary to obtain general information from the database for purposes other than to satisfy duty-of-care guidelines under the legislation (e.g. s45).
There are guidelines to accessing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander database, register and reports catalogue, which set out the conditions for obtaining such information. A data request form (PDF, 65K)* must be completed to obtain this information. When reporting information on the location of cultural heritage information, a deposition form (PDF, 39K)* should be completed.
