Communication between the advisory committees and the ministers

In September 2008, the Cape York Peninsula Regional Advisory Committee (CYPRAC) and the Cape York Peninsula Region Scientific and Cultural Advisory Committee (CYPRSCAC) (PDF, 73K)* were established under the Cape York Peninsula Heritage Act 2007. CYPRAC and CYPRSCAC members were chosen by the relevant minister on the strength of their individual expertise and their ability to provide independent specialist advice on matters relevant to the objectives of the Cape York Peninsula Heritage Act 2007.

The Minister for Energy and Water Utilities, the Minister for Environment and the Minister for Finance, Natural Resources and The Arts have committed to regularly attending the meetings of the CYPRAC and CYPRSCAC.

The two Committees provide the Ministers with the full minutes of each meeting to keep them informed of the matters discussed at meetings and to identify areas of interest that require an action or response from the Ministers.  Previously, the official avenue of communication between the committees and the Ministers was by way of a communiqué, however both Committees agreed early in 2011 to streamline communications through exchange of minutes.
