Our policies

The Department of Environment and Resource Management was formed on 26 March 2009 by merging  the former Department of Natural Resources and Water and the former Environmental Protection Agency.

Regulatory fees and charges

The department collects a range of regulatory fees associated with permits for commercial activities in or near parks, the keeping of wildlife, and licensing of the recreational and commercial harvesting of wildlife which are administered by the DERM.

Recreational wildlife licence

The recreational wildlife licence (RWL) service provides online access to apply for certain recreational wildlife licences and receive permits electronically.

Subordinate legislation including regulations

Fees are listed in the Schedules in the relevant subordinate legislation including regulations. Full text of legislation, including Acts and subordinate legislation, administered by the Department of Environment and Resource Management, is provided by the Office the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel.

Waste tracking certificates

The department's waste tracking certificates are used to record the movements of regulated waste from the generator to the treatment, recycling or disposal facility.
