How to apply to access or amend information
The Right to Information Act 2009 (the RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (the Privacy Act) enable members of the public to apply to access information held by government. The Privacy Act also enables people to apply to have information about them amended, if they believe it is inaccurate, incomplete, out-of-date or misleading.
You do not need to know which of these Acts is relevant to your circumstances before applying to access or amend information. The department will determine which Act applies upon receipt of an application, and will advise accordingly.

You can apply online to access or amend information. This facility allows for online lodgement and payment.

If you are dissatisfied with the department’s decision on your access or personal information amendment application, you can apply to have that decision reviewed.
