Executive management group
The department's Executive Management Group ensures the effective management, administration and overall strategic direction of the department, and offers high-level advice and support to the Director-General, who is the department’s accountable officer. The group takes a lead role in identifying priorities, setting strategic direction and driving policy initiatives.
John Bradley, Director-General
John Bradley chairs the Executive Management Group to ensure that the department's strategic direction and priorities align with Queensland Government directions and with planning activities, resource decisions, policy initiatives and risk management.
Terry Wall, Associate Director-General, Operations and Environmental Regulator
Terry Wall is responsible for the leadership and performance of the departmental business groups dealing with client services; compliance with DERM legislation; science; and delivering programs under the Sustainable Communities and Landscapes business group. Terry's role is also responsible for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service which manages terrestrial and marine parks and world heritage areas.
Debbie Best, Deputy Director-General, Water and Corporate Services
Debbie Best is responsible for the leadership and performance of the department’s business groups dealing with planning and management for water across the state, and delivering Corporate Services. Debbie also chairs a range of departmental management committees, notably the department’s Finance Committee.
Chris Robson, Assistant Director-General, Land and Vegetation
Chris Robson is responsible for leadership and performance of the department’s business groups that deal with the planning, management and use of land (including State land); vegetation resources; forest products on State land; Indigenous services; land and spatial information; land and water title registers; and valuations.
Tony Roberts, Assistant Director-General, Natural Resources and Environment
Tony Roberts is responsible for the leadership and performance of departmental business groups dealing with strategic policy and planning and use of reef, wetlands, built heritage, biodiversity, waste, the Caring for our Country policy. Tony's area coordinates the department's involvement in Cape York, and Tony is also responsible for coordinating peak ministerial councils.
Greg Withers, Assistant Director-General, Office of Climate Change
Greg Withers is responsible for the leadership and performance of the department's business groups that deal with policy and planning for climate change and the Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence. Greg is also responsible for coordinating Queensland’s contribution to the national climate change agenda; managing the Queensland Climate Change Fund; the operation of the Climate Change Council; and the revised Queensland Climate Change Strategy.
