Scholarships with DERM
The next round of scholarship advertising will be in April 2010.
Each year, the department offers scholarships to help students through their studies and boost their employment prospects. In return, they begin their career with us.

Benefits
As a scholarship holder you will receive:
- up to $5000 study and living allowance per semester of full-time study
- up to 8 weeks paid employment each year
- mentoring and support during your studies and on the job.
- an opportunity to apply your studies in a practical way.
When you finish your studies
When you complete your studies, you will join DERM as a graduate with:
- permanent full-time employment
- entry into the graduate program designed to enhance your career prospects
- a competitive starting salary with generous superannuation
- attractive working conditions including flexible hours, generous leave provisions, and ongoing training and development.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a DERM scholarship, you must be:
- an Australian citizen or a permanent resident; or
- a New Zealand citizen who has a special category visa (or can be granted one); and
- studying in a relevant, recognised undergraduate degree.
How to apply
Your application for a scholarship position should include:
- copy of your academic record to date
- copy of your resumé or CV
- one-page typed response to the question 'How will a DERM scholarship help you meet your study and career objectives?'
- covering letter outlining your interest in DERM
- completed personal details form (PDF, 96K)* or personal details form (DOC, xx kB).

After the closing date
- Applications received by the closing date are distributed to relevant business units for shortlisting.
- Business units interview the shortlisted candidates.
- Offers are sent to successful candidates.
