Scholarships with DERM (study full-time, work part-time)
Each year, the department offers university scholarships to help students through their studies and boost their employment prospects. In return, students begin their career with us.
DERM university scholarships are generally offered in our technical professions such as engineering, surveying and hydrology.

Benefits
As a scholarship holder you will receive:
- up to $5000 study and living allowance per semester of full-time study
- up to 8 weeks paid employment each year
- mentoring and support during your studies and on the job.
- an opportunity to apply your studies in a practical way.
When you finish your studies
When you complete your studies, you will join DERM as a graduate with:
- permanent full-time employment
- entry into the graduate program which will enhance your career prospects
- a competitive starting salary with generous superannuation
- attractive working conditions including flexible hours, generous leave provisions, and ongoing training and development.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a DERM scholarship, you must be:
- an Australian citizen or a permanent resident; or
- a New Zealand citizen who is currently residing in Australia; and
- studying in a relevant, recognised bachelor degree; and
- in at least your second year of study at the time of application.
